Welcome to the Utah Human Resources State Council Diversity Web Page

We seek to be the primary resource for all Utah employers with questions on diversity. As Utah’s State Diversity Leadership develops in 2008, our initiative continues to grow. As our focus evolves to become more inclusive of Utah’s diversity needs, we continue to communicate our vision of comprehensive diversity, paralleling our efforts and support to each individual business need.

Our vision, values and mission defined

Diversity Statement

We believe that the future of all business and its workforce rests in the collective ability to embrace change and leverage diversity through its leadership, education, employment and continued community support. We believe that diversity is critical to business strategy, improving competitiveness and the prospect for long-term success in any growing organization.

Vision Statement

To assist and support Utah organizations in cultivating and fostering an inclusive environment in which the unique talents and perspectives of each and every employee are understood, respected, valued and leveraged.

Mission Statement

To work with Utah businesses in helping to establish a visible commitment to diversity; one that will enhance their own vision, business strategy, corporate behavior, community involvement and the relationship they have with their customers. We enable companies and their employees to reach their full potential, and in so doing, maximize the value they can provide to clients and the communities they serve.

Diversity Rational

The demographics of the workplace are changing and the pace of this chance will only quicken in the coming years. Almost every organization’s employee population looks and acts different than it did, five, ten or even fifteen years ago - both in terms of what positions employees hold, who is employed and how they serve the organization.

People of diverse backgrounds bring unique perspectives to the business challenges facing our current industries. These differences mean substantial benefits for organizations and the leadership teams that have the privilege of managing them. Greater diversity enhances the ability to innovate and maintain a competitive edge.

If you are a Utah business, Human Resources or Diversity professional and have questions about diversity, or would like general information about the 2008 SHRM State Council Diversity Initiative, please contact any of the following diversity officers for more information:
